The starting date is excluded and the target date is included: 1 September to 2 September is one day. Public holidays are not removed from the weekday count.
How to use this days until date
- Choose today or another starting date.
- Choose the future target date.
- See total days, complete weeks, calendar time, weekdays and weekend days.
How many days are left until a date?
Choose the day you want to count from and the future date you are waiting for. The headline result is the exact number of calendar-day boundaries between them. Today to tomorrow is one day; the same date is zero days. This makes the answer useful for a holiday, birthday, wedding, graduation, retirement date, exam, launch or project deadline.
What the countdown includes
The total excludes the starting date and includes the target date. It is also divided into complete seven-day weeks and remaining days. A calendar breakdown uses real year and month lengths, so it can say one month where a simple 30-day estimate would be wrong. Weekdays and weekend days are counted separately across the remaining period.
Worked examples
From Tuesday 1 September 2026 to Friday 11 September 2026 is 10 calendar days: one complete week and three days. The remaining dates contain eight Monday-to-Friday weekdays and two weekend days. From 31 January 2024 to 29 February 2024 is 29 days and one calendar month because 2024 is a leap year.
Weekdays are not the same as business days
The weekday count includes Monday through Friday but does not remove public holidays, company shutdowns or regional non-working days. Those rules differ by country and organisation. Use the Business Days Calculator for a clearly labelled Monday-to-Friday range, then apply the official holiday calendar that governs your deadline.
Calendar-day privacy and accuracy
The calculation uses date-only UTC values, not midnight in your device time zone. That prevents daylight-saving clock changes from turning a calendar day into 23 or 25 hours. Your selected dates are processed in this browser and are not sent to Day Calculator.
What if the target date has passed?
This page is intentionally a forward countdown and rejects a target before the starting date. Use Days Between Dates when you need an absolute past-or-future distance, or Add or Subtract Days when you know the amount and need to calculate the resulting date.
