The starting date is not counted when moving by one or more business days. Only the weekend pattern and holiday dates you enter are excluded.
How to use this business date calculator
- Choose a starting date and whether to add or subtract.
- Enter the number of workdays, workweek and any dates to exclude.
- See the resulting date and a transparent skipped-day breakdown.
Add or subtract business days from a date
Use this calculator when you know a starting date and a number of working days, but need the resulting deadline, delivery date or return date. Choose add to move forward or subtract to move backward. The start is excluded whenever the amount is greater than zero: adding one business day to a Friday reaches the next eligible working day.
Choose a five-day or six-day workweek
The Monday–Friday option treats Saturday and Sunday as weekends. The Monday–Saturday option treats only Sunday as a weekend, which is useful where Saturday is normally worked. The result states how many calendar dates were crossed and how many weekend dates were skipped, so the counting rule stays visible.
Exclude holidays and shutdown dates
Paste known non-working dates using the YYYY-MM-DD format. You can separate them with spaces, commas or new lines. Duplicate dates are removed automatically. A listed holiday that already falls on a weekend is not double-counted, because the weekend rule excludes it first. The tool does not guess national, regional, religious or company holidays.
Worked examples
Adding one Monday–Friday business day to Friday 4 September 2026 produces Monday 7 September: three calendar days are crossed and two weekend days are skipped. Adding ten business days to Monday 7 September normally produces Monday 21 September. If Friday 18 September is entered as a holiday, the answer moves to Tuesday 22 September.
How the calculation works
The calculator moves one calendar date at a time in the chosen direction. It ignores dates matching the selected weekend pattern, then ignores any remaining weekday found in your holiday list. Every other date increments the business-day count. Date-only UTC arithmetic avoids daylight-saving changes turning a calendar date into a 23- or 25-hour duration.
Zero business days
An amount of zero returns the starting date unchanged, even when the start is a weekend or listed holiday. This is deliberate: no movement was requested. To find the next working date, add one business day. Confirm whether a contract, courier or legal rule counts the start differently before relying on the result.
Privacy and limitations
The start date, amount and holiday list are processed in this browser and are not sent to Day Calculator. Only the weekend pattern and exact dates you provide are applied. The result does not know local bank holidays, emergency closures, partial working days, cut-off times or organisation-specific calendars. Check important legal, financial, employment and shipping deadlines against the authoritative rules that govern them.
Choose the right calculator
Use Business Days Calculator to count weekdays inside a known date range. Use Add or Subtract Days when every calendar day should count, or Days Between Dates to measure the plain date gap.

Can Saturday be a business day?
Yes. Select Monday–Saturday to exclude Sundays only.
